It's The End of the World As we Know it...

and I feel fine.

I have essentially talked myself out of the 6 week detox program. I
think the instructor has some great ideas, but in general, I don't
think it is what I need right now. Moderation in my diet and MORE
exercise is more in line with what I am needing...so I will go in that
direction. I have to trust my body. Its amazing and can do much more
than I give it credit for.

Rock.

Detox

My yoga instructor has decided to share her personal DETOX program with people who attend her class. I went to the info session/class today and decided I would embark on a new journey and try it. Starting next Sunday, I will be focusing my attention on detoxifying my body for 6 weeks. I will blog about it. I will probably vent about it. But I am excited about it. No alcohol, no caffeine, no added sugar or salt. Its a pretty strict diet and tapers to where I think for one full week, I am pretty much on a liquid diet. Oy!
Why? lots of reasons...but mainly I want to try something good for my body to kick start the spring/summer season. Side effects may include weight loss...which is also a nice bonus.

Ah. I will tell you all about my journey once it starts. till then...I will have cheese, wine, beer and bad food. :)

What would I rather have?

Lately our office has been baking cookies regularly. Almost daily. I
don't normally swoon over sugared products, but the aroma is
overpowering and I end up giving in. Sugar cookies.

Sigh.

I have decided the only way I can combat this insanity is to indulge
in something I would rather have than cookies. I am pretty sure that
would be CHEESE. So, I intend to bring some form of cheese snack to
the office to eat when I desperately need another option. I know I
won't eat carrot sticks or anything of that sort, but a nice piece of
cheese with calcium and goodness...yeah, I can do that. Maybe some
sharp cheddar and crackers. Maybe I could have a mini-cheese plate for
a mid-afternoon snack. A rare indulgence. Ahhhh...I could have sliced
cheese, maybe some pear, and some good crackers. A small dose...but
enough to remind me that in comparison, these plebeian cookies must be
ignored!

I don't know whether to be worried or not...

My gmail background is a different color than I chose my theme. Think
someone hacked my gmail?
That would be sad. Can't think of anything that interesting they would
be able to claim there.

Anyhoo...found this quote in my Daily Quotes reader thread:

Robertson Daviesfrom Quotes of the Day
"Few people can see genius in someone who has offended them."

This made me think of some people I know and know of. It also reminds
me of me. Often when I am offended, it is much easier to label the
offending party as idiotic and stupid, rather than sensible and
intelligent. Hmmm...

Another busy day ahead...wheeeeeeeeeee!!!

An Ode to Joy…

Well, I know at least one person will appreciate this post.
Rachel, this one is for you.

Saturday AM, I had plans to meet up with my sister and cousin to go
get our most coveted Twilight DVD set (3 disc set with a code to
download the digital copy of the movie and all special features on
Itunes!!) from Target. They wanted to go at like, 7am. I woke up
around 5:30, heard my text alerts and responded. "I am bailing…sleep
is important. Will buy it later today".

They were upset, but I am sure they understood. I finally woke up
around 8:30 and had a fantastic breakfast with my honey. We talked
about what the day was to hold for us and how we would go about
getting everything done. He was going to go ride with friends in Ft
Worth, and I had some errands to run and hookers to meet for drinks.
(Hookers = close friends)

I had to go to Target ANYWAYS to get cleaning crap, cat food, etc. So,
I just happened to pick up my Special Edition Twilight DVD. I got
home, kissed Mike goodbye on his way to his ride...unloaded part of my
supplies from Target…and then ripped the DVD open and curled up on the
couch to feed the frenzy. It was greatness. I am lucky enough to have
a technofile boyfriend who insists on a HUGE flat screen. Ahhh..and
the sound system. I am extremely grateful for this I enjoyed the
movie, then packed myself up and went to meet Lauren and Cheryl for
drinks on the patio at Nate's. We imbibed a few ice cold beers, downed
some crawfish, dirty rice, gumbo, etc. I am pretty sure we were there
for about four or five hours. We had an excellent time. Joey even
came out and joined us. That night, Mike made fish tacos that were…as
usual, greatness! Lauren came by too and we watched the HD version of
Twilight (that Mike so kindly rented for us from Itunes). Heheheh I
think he even liked it, but I doubt he will admit it. After the
movie, I loaded Lauren up with the books and a strong urging to READ
Them

Sunday AM was frought with confusion and irritation on my part. Some
plans fell through, for various reasons, and then the rest of the day
just sorta grew out of that. Mike rode around the lake. I did laundry
and cleaned up the house a bit. We scooted down to the Dubliner to
meet the other scooter folk. It was the Mods vs Rockers weekend and we
didn't even make it to the "real" event. The Dubliner was PACKED. We
stayed for a while, I got mildly sun tinged and we finally ate at
Quesa-D-Yas. It was actually pretty good. We will prolly order for
delivery some time. We went home, Mike went to a meeting, I watched
my special features DVD and found the one scene that made it all worth
while. A deleted scene with Esme and Carlisle. LOVED It. Anyways,
Mike got home, we watched Milk and ate red beans & rice, then went to
bed.

A great weekend. Sigh.

Schlotzky's and why I don't like to go there...

I went to lunch with a co-worker today. We had a good time, but I
gotta say...Schlotzky's is NOT my favorite place. I ate half my
sandwich (small) and it was still overwhelming. The bread is nasty. I
can't stand that uber synthetic kitchen sponge style bread. And the
cheese is GREASY and tastless.
Their soup was allright, but it was way too rich for me. At least the
coke was perfect. I know, I shouldn't be drinking cokes...but it was
good. I needed a pick me up.
