auto-reminders are not always helpful
To do list item # 1: remove unwanted birthday reminders from Yahoo calendar.
I seriously thought I removed all bi-polar wankers from my birthday reminder calendar...but I guess that was just my google calendar. Yahoo has now been updated.

Insurance Coverage
I don't get too excited about insurance coverage, but I just have to say...Ted Olsen is the bomb. He is setting me up with better renter's coverage for much less than I was paying before, full coverage on my car (same as I had) for LESS than I was paying, and MUCH MUCH better coverage for my scoot - at about the same price I was paying.
If anyone wants a great deal on insurance, call this dude. He rocks!!!

2 hours of 24 is, in fact, too much...
I have been struggling with my love/hate relationship with 24 the whole season. Every Monday I have been traumatized by constant terrorist attacks, characters who keep changing sides, and Jack slowly dying. I am not a big fan of heavy-handed drama...but somehow, I am unable to "quit" 24. Last night we watched the season finale of 24 in all its 2 hours of stress and anticipation. Will Kim Bauer donate her stem cells to save her father? Will Tony turn out to be, like we all hope, NOT a bad guy after all? Will Renee get punched in the face by Janice like she deserves? Will they re-open CTU so Chloe can get her own desk? Will the president's daughter get shipped off to Bosnia or something similar where she belongs? All these questions were unanswered going into the show. By the end, I finally got some of those answers, sorta, but honestly...at the end of 2 tumultuous hours, I still felt incredibly unsatisfied. I think that is part of their schtick.
So...I have one year to recover from the constant whipping that is 24 and then jump right back in to find out if Kim's stem cells can save Daddy Jack after all. Best part of the finale was when Kim's phone died and she said "dammit!" just like her dad. Ah. Like father, like daughter. Wonder if she will be playing a bigger role next season?

heartbreak
My favorite children's book of all time is being made into a movie. I can't even say that I am surprised, frankly I thought they would have done it by now. The heartbreaking part of this is how they have completely destroyed the integrity of the story and art in the book. Yes, I am THIS passionate about a children's book. "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" reflects the best of imaginative writing and personal expression through visual art. To reduce it to some glossy, over-engineered version of a faux-pixar animation film and then to gut and re-engineer the story is, at best, nauseating. Here is the official movie website brought to you courtesy of Sony Pictures and Columbia pictures: http://www.cloudywithachanceofmeatballs.com/
I am sickened, saddened and depressed that a new generation of children will be subjected to this watered-down, yet Red-Bull-infused version of such an incredible story.

wow.
Isn't this just another way to tell those loud, obnoxious drunks to "suck on it"?

Wonder if we should alert the guy who handles this website: http://www.barkingdogs.org/ I am sure he would be all about it for Lower Greenville.

feelings..nothing more than feelings...
This morning I attempted to obtain information from my boyfriend regarding fashion do's and don'ts. Laugh, if you will, but he is quite a helpful resource. I was in a quandry over whether I could wear my white sandals or if I needed to wear the brown ones until Memorial Day. My instincts said you could wear white after Easter, so I checked with my fashion guru. He agreed. I got to work and I am not the only one wearing white sandals!! Yay team!
So, thank you dear Mike...for being my rock in times of fashion crisis. :)
Also, I have a whole bunch of emotions going on right now. Yesterday I accepted a new position with a medical staffing firm (with a great friend I have known since high school) and gave my two weeks notice at my current job. I am excited by the new opportunity and energized in a way I haven't been in many years of working, but at the same time...I am sad to leave my "new" office. It is mortgage, but this is one of the few offices I have worked at where I really felt like they "got it". I may have indulged in the kool-aid, but I leave this job with a sense of pride knowing that I worked for a branch that really wanted to do right by their clients - even while being an incredible example of production. The people I have met, I hope, I will remain in contact with...as they are all incredible folks.
